About:
Clay House makes software, records and games. Everything it puts out is made in house — which is where the name comes from.
Three kinds of work and the same hands on all of them. A game, a record and a piece of software look like different trades, and they are not: each one is a thing you make, finish, and put out under your own name.
Apps and useful things. Tools that do one job properly and run on the machine in front of you rather than somebody else’s. Dubplate Studio is the current one — it reads years of scattered projects and bounces, pairs each to the session that made it, and plays an album end to end, and nothing about you ever leaves your computer: its one connection is a check for a new version.
A label. Garden Atlas is the first artist on it. The work is getting a record made properly and then keeping it — artwork, a release that is planned rather than posted, a page that still exists in five years. Nothing is taken down because it did not perform.
Mobile games to Steam games. Cut-It-Close is the first one out: an object drops in, you swipe a freehand line to slice it, and you are scored on how close the split came to an exact fraction. Real polygon area, so a pixel of slip costs you.
Who
Clay House makes software, records and games, and every part of them is made in house: the code, the music, the art. That’s where the name comes from.
It was started by Carter Young, a musician and developer based in Los Angeles, California.
Few things, made with care, and never abandoned.

Clay House is one person: the apps, the records and the games. They're free, with no ads and nothing about you for sale. If something here saved you time or made your day, a coffee keeps it going.
Coming soonThese terms are an agreement between you and Clay House Software, the maker of Dubplate Studio. By downloading or using Dubplate Studio you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
Clay House Software gives you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Dubplate Studio on computers you own or control, for your own work — personal or professional, commercial releases included.
You may not sell, rent, sublicense or redistribute Dubplate Studio, or modify, decompile or reverse-engineer it, except where the law gives you a right to do so that can't be taken away.
Everything you bring into Dubplate Studio — audio, projects, artwork, lyrics, notes — stays yours. Clay House Software claims no rights in any of it, and since the app never sends any of it anywhere, never receives a copy of it.
You're responsible for having the right to use what you bring in, and for what you do with what you export.
Dubplate Studio stores nothing anywhere but your own computer. Clay House Software never has a copy of your music, your projects or your library, so there are no backups on Clay House Software's end and nothing it could restore if something goes missing. The dated copies Dubplate Studio keeps of its library are on your computer too, and only there.
Backing up your work is up to you. Clay House Software isn't responsible for files or library data that go missing, are deleted, moved or damaged, or can't be read — whether that happens through Dubplate Studio, your computer, a drive, or anything else.
Alpha and beta versions of Dubplate Studio are still being worked on. Things will change between versions, and some things will break. Dubplate Studio never writes to your audio or project files, but the library it builds — your folders, records, artwork and notes — lives in its own store on your computer. Back your computer up the way you already do, so that work is covered too.
Dubplate Studio is free to download and use. Some features may later come as part of Dubplate Studio Pro, a paid upgrade. Its price, and how refunds for it work, will be on its page here before anything is for sale.
New versions are posted on its page here with what changed. When one is out, Dubplate Studio asks whether to update; nothing is downloaded or installed until you say so. Your library stays where it is, and a copy of it is kept before each update.
Dubplate Studio is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement — to the fullest extent the law allows. Clay House Software doesn't promise that it will be free of errors or interruptions, or that it will keep everything you put into it safe.
To the fullest extent the law allows, Clay House Software isn't liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss — including lost data, lost work or lost profits — that comes from using Dubplate Studio or not being able to. Where liability can't be excluded, it's limited to what you paid for Dubplate Studio, if anything.
Some places don't allow these limits, so some of them may not apply to you. Nothing here takes away rights the law says you can't give up.
You can stop using Dubplate Studio whenever you like: delete the app, and its folder at
~/Library/Application Support/dubplate if you want your library gone too. If
you break these terms, your license to use Dubplate Studio ends.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its rules on conflicts of law.
If these terms change, the new version goes here with the date at the top updated. A change applies to versions of Dubplate Studio released after it; the version you already have keeps the terms it came with.
